Each set includes

Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut Reserve

Champagne Duval-Leroy Fleur de Champagne Brut Premier Cru

Bright straw. Floral, apples, lemons, limes with lots of zest, freshness, intensity, finish and length. About full-bodied, Fleur de Champagne captivates the floral aspect of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that come from Premier and Grand Cru villages to produce this champagne.

Champagne Duval-Leroy Blanc de Blancs Préstige Grand Cru

Bright light gold. Brioche, citrus, apples, minerality, with a dash of honey. Richness and intensity. Long, persistent, lingering finish. The shrunken cork reveals bottle-age which accounts for a delicious evolution that has set in. Chardonnay from six great Grand Crus are responsible for this Blanc de Blancs, namely Le Mesnil sur OgerOgerAvizeCramantChouilly, and Oiry.

Bald Hills Pinot Noir 2005

Bald Hills Pinot Noir 2005 emerged the top Pinot Noir in Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge. Both are held in London and apart from being named the top Burgundy red variety, Bald Hills Pinot Noir 2005 was also hailed Red Wine of Show of the International Wine Challenge. To savour the blackcurranty fruit and hint of autumn leaves that are part of this delicious red, decant for more than an hour: 75 to 90 minutes

Champagne Duval-Leroy Rosé Prestige Brut Premier Cru

Rosé champagne falls into two categories. The first is a light to medium-bodied aperitif style. Billecart-Salmon best exemplifies this. The second is a more “serious” type of Champagne Rosé. While equally enjoyable as an aperitif, this type of “winey” champagne is eminently versatile to pair with food. Perhaps the leading benchmark is Laurent-Perrier Brut Rosé. Other rosé champagne in this same category include Bollinger and Krug, whether vintage or non-, aka multi-vintage. We can now add Duval-Leroy Rosé Prestige Brut Premier Cru to this category. Only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are used. Both must be from Premier Cru villages including Vertus where Champagne Duval-Leroy is based. Bright pink/onion skin/salmon in colour. Ripe, rich red fruit including raspberry and strawberries, and cherries and ginger spice. A serious, full-bodied rosé champagne. Do not serve too cold. Best in a Burgundy – at least a white wine – glass.

Best’s Great Western Bin No 1 Shiraz 2011

Garnet, ruby, and a tinge of tawny on the rim. Blackcurrant, eucalypt and mint. Complete with a whiff of sandalwood. Evolved, elegant fruit delivered by soft tannins with a gentle grip on the finish. Freshness, finesse and harmony. Medium-bodied.  The winner of the 2012 Jimmy Watson Trophy – Australia’s most prestigious wine prize – is a classy Shiraz. If you expect a full-bodied Shiraz like Penfolds Grange, you will be disappointed. However, if you are searching for a subtle and refined Syrah, you will be amply rewarded.
