(CG) Sella & Mosca Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2018

Ruby with a light tawny tinge on the rim. A whiff of dried roses followed by cherry fruit. A hint of autumn leaves and leather. Reminds a bit of Burgundy. Fresh and with a little grip of skin/pip tannins on the finish. Balanced. Medium-bodied. Decant 30 to 45 minutes. Enjoyable on its own and with roast chicken, duck, lamb and tandooris. In French, Cannonau is Grenache and Granacha in Spanish. Sella & Mosca’s flagship Cannonau di Sardegna  is aged in old wooden vats made of Slovenian oak – the largest is a whopping 19,000 litres – and also in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats.  You will be tasting fruit, not “furniture”. The Art Deco label features the logo of Sella & Mosca, a depiction of how the early Phoenicians pressed the grapes in winemaking.
