In 2008, the Burgundian famously flew to New York to interrupt an Acker Merrall & Condit auction because Domaine Ponsot Clos St Denis 1945 was going under the hammer.
This was simply impossible because the Ponsot Family did not produce a wine from Clos St Denis until 1982!
Laurent Ponsot’s evidence at the December 2013 New York trial helped convict fake wine producer Rudy Kurniawan.
Laurent Ponsot – the wine company – has its own vineyards, contracts to work vineyards it does not own, buys grapes to make into wine, and also acquire finished wine which it raises or “elevage” in its cellar.
